1. When location sharing starts
A driver receives a secure link connected to a specific transport job. Location sharing begins only after the driver opens that link, selects “Start live GPS sharing” and grants precise location permission in the phone or browser.
Sharing stops when the tracking page is closed, browser location permission is removed or the secure job link is no longer used. The website does not silently activate GPS in the background.
2. What is collected
- Latitude and longitude supplied by the driver’s device.
- The estimated accuracy of the location reading.
- The date and time of the latest location update.
- The related job reference and secure tracking token.
The tracking page does not request access to contacts, photos, messages, microphone or camera.
3. Why location is used
- Coordinate collection, transit and delivery during an active job.
- Provide relevant operational updates and respond to delays or route exceptions.
- Support the driver and dispatch team when plans change.
- Maintain an appropriate operational record for service delivery, disputes, safety or insurance matters.
GPS data is not used for advertising and is not sold.
4. Who can see it
Access is restricted to authorised Transglobal Holding LTD dispatch users and relevant authenticated job users who need the location to coordinate or receive updates about that transport movement. Secure tracking links must not be forwarded to unauthorised people.
5. Lawful basis and fairness
Location information is processed where necessary to coordinate the requested transport service and for legitimate interests in monitoring an active movement, supporting the driver, informing relevant job parties and protecting the service. We aim to use the least intrusive information reasonably needed for these purposes.
Browser permission provides a clear technical choice to start sharing, but it is not used to avoid our wider duties under UK data-protection law. Drivers should also receive appropriate information from the carrier or organisation that assigns the job.
6. Retention and security
GPS information is linked to the relevant job and kept only for as long as reasonably required for live coordination, operational evidence, support, complaints, insurance or legal claims. Access is controlled through secure job links and authenticated accounts. Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required, where appropriate.
7. Driver choices and rights
A driver can stop new updates by closing the page or revoking the browser’s location permission. A driver may also contact us to ask about access, correction, erasure, restriction or objection rights that apply in the circumstances.
Requests should be sent to office@transglobalholding.co.uk. Privacy complaints may also be made to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
8. Safety
Drivers must not operate the tracking page or a phone while driving. Start sharing only when safely parked. GPS is an operational convenience and must not be relied on as an emergency, navigation or personal-safety service.
